Personal Care and Support Services

At Valleywood Care, we understand there’s no place like home; our personal care services allow people to remain close to their families in a safe, familiar environment. We ensure that care and support are provided with dignity and a commitment to preserving an independent lifestyle wherever possible.

There are lots of reasons why people might need or want personal care. We understand the right support can make a massive difference to your quality of life, helping you to stay happy at home. Some people may need a short visit a couple of times a week, while others might need a 24 hour live-in carer; some require simple companionship, whilst others need more complex personal care. Our highly-trained and trusted team are here to help with a personal support care plan fully tailored to you living well at home, your way. It’s your choice! Our personal care professionals visit when you want them to, so you choose when you get up, go out, eat meals or go to bed.

Whatever support you need, home visits from an experienced Valleywood personal care support worker will give you and your loved ones peace of mind.

The Valleywood Care Promise:

  • We will always treat our clients with dignity and respect
  • We will work around your preferred routine and lifestyle
  • We will help you stay in your own home in familiar surroundings
  • We will give families a rest from caring with the peace of mind that their loved one is being well looked after

We understand that supporting or looking after a loved one with care needs can often be overwhelming for everyone involved. With personal care support from Valleywood, you can focus on the most important thing: spending quality time together.

What is personal care support

Personal care is the support and supervision of daily personal living tasks, private hygiene and toileting, along with dressing and maintaining your personal appearance. Personal care support services may include bathing, showering, bed-baths and applying lotions and creams as required. It allows you or your loved one to receive discreet and sensitive one-to-one support from a fully-trained carer.

Personal Support and Care

Our Services

We offer a comprehensive range of Personal Care Support services in and around Crewe, tailored to meet your individual needs.

  • Personal Care
Our support workers can assist with bathing, showering, toileting and continence care. We’re here to help you follow a good oral hygiene and foot care regime. A carer can also help you get dressed, do your hair, apply make-up and shave to ensure you feel clean, comfortable and confident every day.
  • Mobility Assistance
We can help with moving around the house, getting in and out of bed, accompanying you on day trips and other mobility-related tasks.

  • Helping out with the housework
If it’s a struggle to stay on top of the housework, we’re happy to help, from doing the laundry to hoovering the stairs.
  • Companionship
We provide companionship, engaging in conversation, activities and outings to keep you socially connected.
  • Health and Medication Support
Our personal care support team can remind and assist with specialist healthcare and medication, whether simply ensuring you take your prescribed medications on time or more complex needs like changing a stoma or catheter bag. We can also provide specialised personal care support for dementia patients.
  • Running errands
A visiting carer can pick up tasks like the weekly shop. Errand running can be tailored to fit your lifestyle and preferences, ensuring you receive the support you need when you need it. Rest assured, we will work around your individual needs and personal routines.

  • Meal preparation
Your carer can prepare tasty and nutritious meals, snacks and drinks at the times that suit you, as well as doing the washing up.

Our Personal Care Support Workers

A personal carer is responsible for meeting clients’ physical, social and emotional needs. This requires a range of qualities such as empathy, patience, respect and excellent communication skills. They must also be able to listen and understand their client’s challenges and wishes to provide personalised care that ensures their comfort, dignity, and safety. We believe in the importance of having the same familiar, friendly faces around and will handpick a carer who shares your likes and interests.

Before starting their services, a Valleywood personal care support worker will get to know their new client, familiarising themselves with general likes and dislikes, personal routines, preferred food and hygiene products. Our carers are trained to understand the importance of listening to someone’s wishes and talking through their actions. Wherever possible, we will work to maintain our client’s independence with a considered approach, not automatically doing everything for someone just because it seems easier or quicker. Above all, a personal caregiver will prioritise the comfort of the person they support, respecting their boundaries to create a happy, safe environment when dealing with personal tasks.

When receiving personal care at home, knowing that the Care Professional is fully competent and qualified to meet your needs is vital. At Valleywood Care, we have a rigorous training and selection process:

Training and certification: The Care Professional will have received the right training to provide the care you need, e.g., first aid, safeguarding, moving and handling and nutrition.

Background checks:  Valleywood Care will have conducted background checks on any candidate before hiring them. This can include criminal background checks, reference checks and further verification of their credentials.

Experience: a personal care support worker will have relevant experience providing the type of care you need.

Supervision: Valleywood Care will provide ongoing supervision and monitoring of our personalised care services. This can include regular check-ins with the client and the care support worker, as well as regular monitoring of the care provided.

Feedback: We welcome and encourage feedback on our carer’s performance. This can help identify any areas needing reviewing and additional training or support.
