I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you on behalf of myself and our family for the support, compassion and assistance, which you have provided to my Grandad, since he has been under your care.
Grandad was much more than just a Grandad to me and living in Leeds meant that my family and I often worried about Nana and Grandad’s safety at home but we knew how important their independence was to them, in particular Grandad. Knowing that both Nana and Grandad were receiving expert care from you all, especially over the last few weeks has been invaluable.
Without doubt, you will all have witnessed how stubborn and proud Grandad could be at times, but he had a heart of gold and a cheeky side with it, which I hope you all got as well.
I would also like to say a special thank you to Angie and Lisa, who could read Grandad like a book and would not back down to his stubbornness. You managed to get him on side and showed him compassion and loving care, making his last days with us as comfortable as possible.
Angie, he definitely needed your straight talking and I could see that he trusted you implicitly, thank you!
My family and I are going to miss Grandad terribly, not least my Nana, but I take comfort in knowing that she will be able to continue to receive great care from you all each day and I’m sure she will continue to share stories and fond memories of Grandad with you.
